As a Linux Mint OS user for last 5 years, thought to share the tools I am using and how the desktop is designed.

Desktop

This is my desktop and have a panel on left for shortcuts.

1. Hot corners

When the mouse point is moved to top right corner it will show all the workspaces.

With the workspaces I am able to work without using external monitors. This feel far more comfortable than moving cursor among screens.

2. Safe Eyes

This tools help me to take break time to time by showing an alert in the screen. It’s configurable and can config what and when to show.

3. Asbru Connection Manager

Asbru connection manager seems to be one of the advance ssh tool for the linucx os. It helps having all the connection in a tree view and also can add post commands which helps when connecting to server across a bastian server.

There is an issue in the Asbru installation where clicking on the start button will give an error. So try to run below command in the terminal or add a shortcut using a Launcher.

/etc/asbru-cm/asbru-cm

4. Sublime

I use sublime text as my notepad. The most important thing with this tool is you can close this without saving the content. and hence very good for urgent note taking. I do not use this for programming.

5. Web Apps

One of great addition for Mint is this web apps. It helps us creating browser based web page to an application that behave like a program installed locally.

You can allow the application to run at startup or add to the side panel for quick access.

6. Screen Recorder

Simple screen recorder seems to be using very small files as recordings. The only issue I face with this is it doesn’t record my own voice :D

7. Warpinator

This is a great tool if you want to share files between your other devices via your wifi network. This is super fast and very easy to connect.

8. Panel launcher

Once you add the panel launcher tool to the side panel, can create shortcuts to the frequently used apps.

Panel on the left shows the shortcuts I am using.

9. Blue Eye Filter

To protect my eyes I am running a command which reduces the blue light a lot. You can run this command in the terminal or as startup or as a shortcut.

10. JetBrains Toolbox

I use this java development and this toolbox helps me updating conveniently.

11. Visual Code

I use visual code for faster code access and for development other than Java code. So fast compared to InteliJ Idea

12. MySQL Workbench

Used for MySQL database management.

13. Postman

Postman is a great tool for api invocations if you are in to programming.
